The keynote presentation of iOS 18 released last June has already been the subject of much discussion, with the announcement of significant new features compared to updates in recent years. The iPhone 16, which is expected to be unveiled in mid-September, is the subject of numerous rumours, but the main question is: how much will it cost? We take stock of the situation.

A price increase?

At the time of writing, the information we have is based solely on rumours and "leaks". We will have to wait until the iPhone 16 is released and unveiled to find out the retail price.

However, AppleHub published an infographic on X (formerly Twitter) on 17 August 2024 announcing the retail prices for the next iPhone series.

https://www.world-itech.com/gb/prestablog?id=48The price for the iPhone, the entry-level model in the 16 series, is expected to be $799 in the US, with the price in Europe being higher. By way of comparison, the price of the iPhone 15 in the US is $750, while it retails for €969 in France. If you want to know why iPhones are more expensive in Europe, we have written an article on this subject.

Based on this information, we can expect the iPhone 16 to cost around €1,000, which represents a slight increase for the cheapest model in the series.

For the Pro version, however, you will need to break the bank, as it will see a price increase compared to its predecessors.

An iPhone 15 Pro cost $999 in the US and €1,229 in France. The iPhone 16 Pro will therefore cost $100 more, which would mean a €90 increase in France for the same model, or €1,319 based on the price of the iPhone 15 Pro in France.

Users are obviously not happy with these estimates, criticising the brand for constantly increasing prices without any real justification in terms of performance. The iPhone 15 has even been criticised for overheating, which is extremely annoying given the price of the device.

All we can do now is wait a few weeks to find out for sure!
