Have you just replaced a part on your Samsung device? To avoid bugs, we recommend using Samsung's Self Repair Assistant app. This app allows you to calibrate the part you have just replaced.

What is calibration?

Calibrating a smartphone component, such as a screen or battery, refers to adjusting or optimising its operation to ensure optimal performance. This process corrects malfunctions or ensures that the component operates in accordance with factory specifications. Calibration can involve several aspects, depending on the component in question. Here are the details for two common examples: the screen and the battery.

  • Screen calibration:

Smartphone screen calibration is usually performed to adjust colour accuracy, brightness, and touchscreen responsiveness. It may also include:

Colours: Adjusting the colour display to ensure that hues are accurate and consistent. This includes colour balance (such as red, blue, and green), often measured by colour temperature and colour rendering.

Brightness: Checking and adjusting the screen's ability to adjust its brightness based on the environment (e.g., switching from low brightness in a dark environment to high brightness outdoors in bright daylight).

Touch accuracy: Ensure that the screen responds correctly to user actions, such as tapping or swiping, especially after a screen replacement or software update.

  • Battery calibration:

Battery calibration refers to adjusting the power management software so that the phone can better estimate the actual battery charge and health status.

Battery health status indication: Calibration allows synchronisation with your smartphone's software, which will provide information on the health status of your battery. Capacity, usage, consumption modes, etc.

Optimisation of energy management: Some calibration methods help to extend battery life by resetting the algorithms that control battery management, so as to avoid excessive discharge or slow charging.

Samsung Standalone Repair Application

The self-repair assistant is an application developed by Samsung to enable its users to calibrate their phones themselves after a part replacement.

This feature allows owners of the brand's smartphones to carry out repairs themselves if they wish, ensuring optimal results.

It is very easy to use:

- Download the application from the Galaxy Store here or by typing "self repair assistant" or "assistant de réparation autonome" into the search bar. If you can (the phone is working before you change the part), download it before the repair, otherwise do so once the part has been changed.

- Open the app and follow the instructions.

Can't find the app in the Galaxy Store?

Don't panic, the app is sometimes unavailable in the store. You can download it to your smartphone from a browser:https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/self-repair-assistant/self-repair-assistant-2-0-17-release/self-repair-assistant-2-0-17-android-apk-download/

How to use the standalone repair wizard after a repair?

Prerequisite: you have just replaced your part and downloaded the application to your smartphone.

  • Open the application. It will analyse your phone and detect the part to be calibrated (screen, battery, camera, etc.).
  • Select the relevant part.
  • All you have to do is press "Start" and the application will calibrate your part automatically.

NB: For the battery, the application will ask you if you want to reset the cycles. Press "reset". This will reset the cycle counter to zero instead of distributing it over the number of cycles of the old battery.
