Need to use your iPhone to connect another device to the internet? Here's how to enable tethering so you can use your iPhone as a router.

Enable Connection Sharing

First, you will need to enable connection sharing in your settings:

  • Go to the "Settings" application on your iPhone.

  • Access the Connection Sharing menu: Tap "Connection Sharing" or Personal Hotspot (depending on your device's language).

  • Enable sharing: toggle the switch to "Enable" tethering.
  • Set up the password: under the "Wi-Fi Password" option, you can set or change the password used to connect to your network. Choose a secure password to prevent unwanted connections.

Connect a device to your iPhone

Once tethering is enabled, you can connect devices via:

  • Wi-Fi

On the device you wish to connect, search for the Wi-Fi network.

Select the name of your iPhone from the list of available networks.

Enter the password you set earlier.

  • Bluetooth

Enable Bluetooth on your iPhone and on the device you want to connect to.

Pair the two devices by following the instructions on the screen.

On the connected device, select your iPhone as the Internet access source.

  • USB cable

Connect your iPhone to the device using a USB cable.

On your computer, go to the network settings and choose your iPhone as the active network.

Connection Management

Limit the number of connected devices: to avoid overload, be aware that the iPhone can only support a limited number of devices connected at the same time.

Monitor data usage: if you have a limited data plan, track your data usage in Settings > Mobile Data.

Is connection sharing not working?

If tethering isn't working:

  • Restart your iPhone.

  • Check that your mobile data is enabled.

  • Update your carrier settings. This can be done in Settings > General > About.
